Cheap Paintball Gun – Criteria for Evaluating

Are you looking to buy a cheap paintball gun? Maybe you have been paintballing a while and you are about to make your first paintball gun purchase. Are you short on advice on how to decide what makes cheap paintball gun a good cheap paintball gun? Well look no further for this article gives you clear, practical criteria for assessing what is good and cheap, and what is just cheap.

In a nutshell, a good cheap paintball gun will satisfy all the following criteria, but it will have none of the fancy features of the more expensive models. When doing your research and asking people how they rate a paintball gun, keep the criteria in mind.

Reliability and durability

Even a cheap paintball gun should be reliable and durable. The paintball gun needs to take some heavy knocks and not complain, it needs to function in all temperatures, be able to load paint and charge up with air and fire without causing you problems. If a paintball gun cannot do this, it is a bad paintball gun. It is therefore essential to take a paintball gun for a thorough field test before you decide to buy.

Ease of operation

A good cheap paintball gun will be really easy to use. A good way to assess usability is to have a read of the manual. Does it look easy to use? Avoid paintball guns where you have to use more than one tool to adjust the paintball gun velocity, or where you have to take the paintball gun apart to adjust velocity. Again, a field test will reveal all you need to know about ease of use.

Precision and velocity

Fired at the same spot, the paintball gun should be sending balls to that target with reasonable consistency from twenty five meters. Try fixing the paintball gun to a tree so that it can’t move. Then fire away and see how precise it is now that you have removed human inconsistency from the equation. If balls seem to occasionally fall short, then it looks like the ‘chrono’ velocity, the speed with which balls leave the gun, is inconsistent and so precision is suffering. Velocity needs to be consistent and high enough to give you reasonable range.

Paintball gun paint

A good cheap paintball gun will work with any brand of paint ball. A good cheap paintball gun won’t get all snooty if it’s firing lower quality paintballs, but a bad one will often break the cheaper balls. This an important issue, since when you get to the play area, you often have little choice in the brand of paintball that you are given.

Weight

A good cheap paintball gun should be relatively lightweight. Keep in mind that you will be carrying it all day, running around and if it really takes the strain on your arms then it is no good for you.

A safety mechanism

A good cheap paintball gun will have a safety mechanism which will make the paintball gun impossible to fire.

Ease of maintenance and cleaning

A good cheap paintball gun will be easy to maintain, easy to take apart and easy to clean. You should not have to spend much time on maintenance or cleaning. Again, check the manual and see how easy it looks to maintain and clean. Avoid paintball guns that require a lot of oiling. For example, if a paint ball gun needs oiling every two hundred balls then this is going to seriously compromise your playing ability and your fun.

Aftermarket upgrades and accessories

A good cheap paintball gun will be upgradeable and will be compatible with accessories.

Gun Control in the U.S.: Events that Lead to the Recent Supreme Court Ruling

On June 28, the Supreme Court ruled that the Second Amendment, which gives citizens the right to bear arms, is not limited by state and local laws. This means that states do not have the power to pass laws that put a limit on the amendment and an individual’s right to carry a weapon.

The controversial topic of gun control is not new to the United States. In fact, it is an issue the country has faced since the days of the Revolutionary War, Prohibition, and even the hippie era.

The following timeline highlights some important landmarks in the history of gun control that lead up to the recent Supreme Court case.

1775: As American try to gain independence, the British limit the amount of gun powder shipped to the colonies. Paul Revere is caught by British on their way to take U.S. weapons at an arsenal.

1822: Bliss v. Commonwealth solidifies peoples’ rights to bear arms to defend themselves. The right to bear arms is seen as an individual right.

1842: State v. Buzzard changes opinion and the right to bear arms is now seen as a political right, not an individual right. The case sends the country into decades of debate over whether the right to bear arms is an individual or collective right.

1856: The well known case of Dred Scott v. Sandford gives African Americans the right to bear arms.

1868: Amid worries that the Southern states were attempting to disarm former slaves, the 14th Amendment is enacted, stating that “no state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States.”

1934: Soon after the repeal of Prohibition and the violent gang related Saint Valentine’s Day massacre, the National Firearms Act is passed, requiring the registration of firearms.

1968: The Gun Control Act makes it illegal for anyone except licensed manufacturers, dealers, and importers to participate in interstate firearms transfers.

1974: The National Coalition to Ban Handguns is founded. It includes labor, religious, and nonprofit groups who support gun owner licensing, firearm registration, and the ban of privately-owned handguns (with a few exceptions) to fight gun-related crime.

1990: The National Coalition to Ban Handguns is renamed the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence.

1993: The Brady Act requires federal background checks to purchase guns in the United Sates.

1994: It becomes illegal to sell assault weapons to civilians, according to the Assault Weapons Ban.

2007: Background check requirements are added to by the NICS Improvement Amendments Act.

2008: The Supreme Court rules, in District of Columbia v. Heller, that the 2nd Amendment allows individuals to cary firearms in federal enclaves. The ruling does not make it clear whether the decision also applies to states.

2010: The Supreme Court rules that the 2nd Amendment is not limited by state and local laws and that individuals have the right to bear arms.

This summary is only the beginning. The history of American government and laws is very interesting, in depth, and pertinent to today’s rulings. Both the criminal justice and legal industries are full of exciting information and opportunities.

Various Hunting Lands ? 3 Tips To Identify Suitable Land

So you have made up your mind to go on a hunting trip this year, and come back with a good haul and the experience of a lifetime! Well then, where are you planning to go? A good number of hunting lands are available, and making a choice is not exactly easy.

It would help if you were aware of the advantages and disadvantages of each hunting land. So the details of a few hunting grounds are presented below—

(1) As indicated by its name, a public hunting land is open to all. Such lands are found in many states and have plenty of game available. No fees are charged for using this land. You are provided with a hunting license for a certain time of the year. Browse through a map listing all the public hunting lands, as well as the list of restrictions governing the hunt. The restrictions generally center round the “catch”.

Maintained by the county, state or federal government, these hunting grounds may prove to be a big disappointment because of the large crowd of hunters. With so much of “sporting” already having taken place, there is hardly any game left for you!

(2) In contrast, you have the private hunting land, where the entire property belongs to one individual. Though the land is not hunting-specific, if there is a good population of animals there, the owner may allow hunting. Of course, his/her permission has to be obtained first. Such grounds are not advertised. So you can get to know about them only by word-of-mouth. You know your friend, your friend knows someone who knows the owner, and so on.

Generally, the owner does not want any money. But in some rare cases, you might have to shell out some money to get permission to hunt there. There are certain rules or rather, restrictions which have to be followed. The advantage is that not too many hunters are allowed on a single-owner property—so you are assured of a good haul!

(3) Sometimes, guide companies or hunting lodges throw open their privately-owned hunting grounds to the public. You have to pay a small amount to enter, as the whole area is classified as hunting land. This is private business and services offered vary from one organization to another. The fees also vary accordingly.

Some of these companies give you a map of the hunting land and access to it for the purpose of camping there and hunting game. But that is all—they offer nothing more. Naturally, the amount charged is less. Those businesses, whose services extend to lodging, guides, food, etc., definitely charge more. They also admit people on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and may even put a restriction on how many animals you can hunt. This becomes necessary to guarantee that the population of animals never goes down. So check out that these limitations do exist before you decide to go there—you are also making sure that they have left some game for you!

Pellet Guns a Collectors Opinion

There are many arguments for and against gun control in this country and with so many misusing firearms it’s not hard to understand the position of those in favor of more control or banning and those who wish to see the owning of guns remain a choice that individuals make and not the government. I generally consider myself a fairly liberal person and while I believe there are always stronger ways to keep guns out of the hands of people who would use them improperly and to do other harm, I also believe that removing guns from society all together will only force immoral individuals to find another weapon with which to threaten us with.

In addition to traditional firearms, there has been a lot of attention of other types of non lethal guns such as pellet guns. As a long time collector and admirer of pellet rifles and air soft guns I find it unfortunate that there are individuals who make use of blank guns and other type of bb and pellet guns to threaten and even harm innocent people. Some of these guns look like actual firearms and in some cases are designed be an exact replica of their more deadly cousins. I think it unfair to lay blame on these guns or any type of gun, lethal in force or not because it’s not the gun that hurt anyone, it’s the person who pulled the trigger. Though any type of gun can be dangerous in the hands of irresponsible, angry, or immature persons, to remove firearms and even pellet guns is akin to placing a band-aid on top of a gaping wound. It solves nothing and those who used guns to do harm in the past will only find a new weapon of choice to use against innocents.

It is all too common a practice these days for people to look for and find a scapegoat and/or a quick solution. We as human beings should look at the tragedies caused by those with guns and realize that this is a human problem and not lay blame on an inanimate object. There are many physiological factors that contribute to a person being able to harm another human being and those are the things we should be looking at. This is where we should be attacking the problem because as I’ve stated before, even if we were to ban every single non-living object in the world, those with the ability to harm, maim, or even kill would still have feet and fists. As a society we should attempt to determine what motivates a person to commit such heinous acts and find ways of stopping this. I’m also a realist however and am well aware that there will likely never be a way to completely or even largely eradicate this type of behavior but we have a responsibility to try.

Recently I have had neighbors frown on me for allowing my teenage son to shoot pellet rifles in our back yard. Comments such as “how can you allow a child to shoot a gun” and “that’s irresponsible” reverberate throughout my front yard on a nearly daily basis. Sadly the majority of these people hold this position only because of what they see on the news or read in the paper. When it comes to guns, even air soft guns, it’s a case of a few bad apples ruining the barrel. I grew up shooting pellet guns with my dad and I like once did with me, have instilled responsibility and safety in my son before anything else. I grew up shooting and have not one time ever thought of using any of my guns for anything but target practice in my back yard or out in the mountains. I’m a well adjusted adult and I believe my son will one day be as well.

The bottom line with any type of gun is this. There are those of us who enjoy collecting and shooting for recreation. We are responsible, level headed people who know right from wrong and would never harm anyone or anything using any type of weapon. There are also those who will attempt to harm others out of frustration, immaturity, fear, revenge, etc. Sadly these people will find a way to do harm whether guns of any type exist or not. We can reduce the number of injuries though through education and responsibility and playing it safe can make shooting a lot of fun.

Scott is a long time admirer and collector of pellet guns as well as blank guns.
